Old Steam Tractor--What can I do with this creatively?

While driving in the countryside recently, I spotted an old (1910) steam tractor sitting in the yard of an old farm. I had never seen one before outside of a museum, so I stopped and asked the older couple if I could photograph their tractor. They agreed and told me it had been in the family since their grandparents time. I promised them a print.

Needless to say, it was in bad shape, and its surroundings less than optimal. I did not want to do cleanup work at that moment so I just took some shots. The last one is a rough draft of what I am going to give them. But, I feel there is something better I can do with this material, but it escapes me. Please use your creative juices to suggest neat things I might do with any of the images. I need to learn "out of the box" thinking.

thanks for any input.

Try using some creative flash shots- full on , or bounced- it will make a world of difference to your shots.

If it was my image, I would take image number 4 and convert it to black and white. I would crop that wood platform out. Then I would get creative and shape a white cloud to come out of the stack.

If it is really steaming, any smoke coming out of the stack will have a gray tinge to it and will have a clear upward velocity ... "cloud" isn't quite the right image.

A member of our camera club reshaped a could to look like steam coming out of a locomotive. It can be done in PS. He did it.

I'm not sure if we are communicating accurately.
Here is something I put together that summarizes what I've learned over the past fifty years about smoke coming from some kind of "steam engine"

In Photoshop you can put any color tinge you want in a cloud as smoke

My point was that you aren't just copying a cloud. You have to give it new coloring, new shape, new texture,.... Serious artistry is involved; I am not an artist, so I don't know whether a cloud or the Bob Ross approach would be better, I simply know what needs to go into the result.

And a person who understands Photoshop can give it the color, shape and texture it requires to make it look like steam coming out of a locomotive.

A person with artistic capabilities and who knows what needs to be done can do just about anything with any tool. Using PhotoShop, s/he could even make the weeds and the years go away, and perhaps put a young Elvis Presley driving the thing..

I don't understand the point of this discussion, so I'm out of here.

Thanks. If I get another opportunity at this subject, I will give that a try.

I like the black and white idea and the crop. The steam/smoke would make it seem like it was functional, and I prefer the idea at present that it is a wreck (which it is).
