This small cemetery contains only 4 graves of
British soldiers that helped in defending our NC Coast.
What a lovely thing done to commemorate those sailors. Nicely photographed.

It was such a small little space nestled among family cemeteries, but so well cared for. I use to teach history to elementary children and have always taken an interest in historical events.
That is very nice to see for us in England. I hope our two countries will always keep our special bond.

We should cherish our friendships with other countries and nurture the bonds between us. A little disappointed in the political climate this election year.
Thank you for sharing your photos of this special place!
I enjoy seeing photos of places I've been to. I remember the first time I visited this spot, we were on a motorcycle trip and were killing time waiting for the ferry to the mainland. While wondering around Ocracoke village we came upon this site, the crosses were there but the regulation grave markers were not, it was the summer if 1982. The next time I visited the site, the crosses were gone, replaced by the grave marker stones. The past few trips we've made to Ocracoke, we've made it a point to visit this spot. Nice Photo's.

Beautiful photographs of a little known slice of history. Thanks for posting, Bizzy.
I have been visiting this site every September since 1977. There is a book about them at the visitor center.
Thank you for that bit of history, unknown to me and I'm sure to many others.
A fitting tribute, and nicely shot.
Excellent set and a fitting tribute to these sailors.
Thank you for sharing these pictures and the history of the site. We think we are well informed but it always amazes how much we don't know even in our own recent history
These British sailors were instrumental at protecting our Merchant Ships along to Carolina Coast during WW2. We didn't have enough patrol craft to keep the German subs away so the Brit's used armed trawlers to provide protection. Heroes one and all.
