Yep ... Do it all the time whenever I need to have background for something I am working on or when something on the news or HD Tv needs referenced hand held I have never had problems with lines ...I have. SUHD 65" 4 K ,, shot with a 810. 24-70 2.8 hand held ...

One shot is of the night sky on my 4K Demo DVD .. I wanted to show my brother how clear the TV was ..

Another shot on the TV I used as a background for my tripod .. All are clear ...no lines and yes I do it whoever I feel a need ...no biggyyyyy..

July 4 I had word for fireworks and I was not going out that night, so I took a shot of the fireworks on TV. I framed it so the network info did not show inthe image. It was only for my personal use.

I was wondering how many Hedgehog members shoot photos from their TV and their opinions concerning this activity?

I took this yesterday just for the heck of it. It is a program I found in Netflix called Jellies, there is music and just pictures of jelly fish floating around the screen. Used my Canon Rebel XS with a EF 35-80mm 1:4-5.6 III lens on auto.

you will find that the refresh rate of the tv is something like 50hz so maybe if you set your camera to a very fast shutter speed you may get a good picture.

sorry the refresh rate of old tv sets was about 50 to 60 hz but new led ones are about 120 or 240 hertz, so they refresh the screen very rapidly.

If you pause the show so the action freezes, then it's like taking a picture of a picture (except if viewed at full size, the TV screen resolution is not as good as the camera resolution would be, taking a picture of a real object).Vizio 32" backlit lcd HD TV. Camera is Nikon D7000. Lens is Sigma 15-30mm zoom, hand held a few feet from the TV in room daylight. Shot at f4.5, 1/60 sec., iso 900.
