As a result of a previous discussion I learned that Nikon has two manuals for the D3300, a "Reference" and a "User". Also learned that there was some inconsistency between the two manuals when it came to the VR setting when camera is mounted on a tripod. I contacted Nikon and asked them what was the difference between the two manuals. Below is the response:
"Thank you for contacting Nikon service and support. The Nikon D3300 user manual is giving you the quick steps to set up your camera where the reference manual is a full guide of your camera. The reference is more detail on the different functions on the camera. Any other information you might need, don't hesitate on contacting us via your account at our web site, or at our toll free number 1-800-NIKON-US (1-800-645-6687)."
No, do not have any idea whether there are any other inconsistencies between the two manuals. As for me, will follow the instructions contained in the Reference Manual, turn VR off when camera mounted on a tripod.
That's correct, turn VR off when using a tripod. There are some on the site that can explain the technicalities of it and how the VR operates, enough to say, just turn it off. Excellent camera
