Spent last week on Ocracoke Island NC. We also took a day trip to Hatters Island. Only took one lens, the 18 to 200 Canon attached to my 60D.

Nice vacation photos. It looks like the weather was good. I will be there in a couple weeks. I have been going to Ocracoke Island in September since 1977. Only evacuated 3 times. Thanks for sharing your photos.

This was my first time vacationing there. Really loved the quiet and peacefulness of the island. The weather was absolutely beautiful, only a couple of showers at night. Would love to go back.

A lot of people have told me that they like staying on Hatteras Island and doing Ocracoke as a day trip, but I am glad that we did it the other way. Ocracoke has locally owned shops, not big chain stores and the preferred modes of transportation are bikes, golf cards. and walking.

Glad you enjoyed it there. You should have seen it 25 or 30 years ago when it was still an active fishing village. It has changed a lot over the years, but it is still very charming. The restaurants have improved over the years. Howard's used to be a dive where the local fisherman hung out. Some change is good.

Here is the Bodie Island light Sept. 2010 during restoration. What you can't appreciate in the photo is the sound of the wind howling through the scaffolding. It was very eerie sounding.
