Yesterday after reading about this topic. I made a trip to Lowes and bought two 48 inch LED lights.
Package said would work with any Ballist and they did. Trouble is they gave off half the light that the Neon did.
Boxed them puppies back up and now off to Lowes for a refund, Price for two was 14.00 with Military discount.
No LEDs for me.

I have regular-shaped 60W LEDs that are very bright. Either those tubes were rated at a low wattage , or they need time to improve brightness.

Yes WessoJPG, don't give up on he LED's.
I bought three single bulb fixtures from Costco, I think for $17.95 each.

Two over my wood lathe and one over my table where I photograph my smalls.

Would not go back to Fluorescence in a life time!

Dave

If that's the brightness, it's very low. If it's the power consumption, it's very high.

Just checked brightness is 32 watts, power consumption 18 watts.

That's not very bright. The consumption of the fluoros was probably 20 or 30W

300 watt torchiere type lamp - replaced bulb with the highest power LED "corncob" lamps I could find. 3 of them in parallel only are half as bright as the original bulb.

The "100 watt equivalent" screw base bulbs are good and affordable now, but the halogen replacements still have a long way to go.

Right now here at work I'm under a "2 tube fluorescent equivalent" fixture which is brighter than the 4 tube 48" fluorescent on the other side of the room.
