Thank you Swamp Cork! If you are ever here in July, let me know. You will be awe struck by the numbers that are out there. It is amazing. First time I went, my jaw about dropped to bottom of boat!

Thanks so much, and will certainly try, but seems to be really difficult to get away in most of the summer months, as we host a large family reunion and seem to have a number of family and or friends visiting. We also have about twenty hanging baskets of annuals and about the same number of pots and this year started a perennial garden, and the annuals seems to need attention almost every day unless it rains. Speaking of jaw dropping we made or first birding trip to Florida and visited Merritt Island in late February about three years ago, and on our way to the visitor center spotted our first Spoonbills--what a sight. Upon leaving the center we entered Black Point trail and could not believe our eyes! What a variety of beautiful birds! After driving several miles we stopped for a closer look, using binoculars of some egrets, when all of a sudden many small groups of White Pelicans started rising from the water, slowly circling and gaining elevation by using the thermals. We watched them until they we just about out of sight and although no pictures were taken we will always remember that moment! Since then we have tried to visit in late February, when things are pretty bleak here, and have yet to be disappointed! Thanks again--Corky!

I used to live in Jacksonville and would see them flying overhead occasionally. To me, the most graceful of all birds. A sight to behold in flight.

Yes they are! Closer to Daytona, hundreds gather before their migration south. It is amazing to see!
