Thanks-these are usually done with a telephoto-that's what I call "long distance macro".

Travis, I took a long look at all three parts of your series and you have a lot of wonderful shots included. I really like your long distance approach. In many cases it lets you have a different perspective. After three sets you ended with an outstanding little wildflower! Well done!

Thank you for your commentary. The "long distance macro" approach was born out of the desire to travel(walk) light, but shoot more than just wildlife. A lot of those pix were taken with lenses anywhere from 200mm to 600mm. The hard part is handholding, and getting back far enough as some of those flowers were smaller than a dime. I do have extension tubes, and 1 macro lens, but find that approach to often be more trouble than what I want to deal with. Guess some would call that lazy!

I think it is wise to experiment and find what works best for you. You are certainly having success this way.

Thank you. Plant life, being so diverse, offers a lot of photo ops if one just looks-maybe too many opportunities, sometimes.
