Hi everyone. I have been a creative since high school. My career has involved photography, advertising prop making, silk screen, lithography, graphic design and IT project management.
Currently I am unemployed and really enjoy my photography. I enjoy capturing the landscapes and people I meet.
I have a gripe with my latest camera -- it is a Sony a6000. I love the camera! I lose the eyepiece constantly and dislike purchasing new ones. I would like to know if anyone has figured out how to prevent this from happening?
Thanks.

A speck of superglue should do the trick..

I think mine is permanently gone. 😟 I recently noticed it had fallen off yet again and have not found it in the bag. I am thinking of selling my camera so not sure if I should replace it or not. (Probably will)
Have been shooting without it for past couple of weeks.

I have a neighbour who constantly loses her latch key, so will be watching this thread with interest in the hopes I can help her.
I have to wonder whether the eyepiece is cracked. The one I have never falls off and in fact pretty seriously resists when I need to remove it.

I don't know if you're talking about the actual eyepiece on the camera or the rubber extension piece that you can buy. Mine never falls off so I'm thinking that it may be a different brand that you have. However I do not know which brand mine is. But you might want to look around. I hope that helps

This has been a known problem for many of the Sony a6000's. You can google Sony a6000 eye cup and read many discussions on this topic. Mine was not attached when I bought the camera new. I thought nothing of it and attached it. However, it regularly fell off with the slightest touch. In hindsight, I should have glued it on at the outset. I learned when I researched the camera that it was an issue with some, but not all.

You might be careful with the idea of glue. I have a waterproof case for my A6000 but it will only fit in it when I remove the eyepiece and any filters.

Yup, that's what I did. After I lost an eyepiece twice, finally forever, I bought two from Amazon and put a couple tiny drops of superglue on each side. The second bought one is still in its plastic bag after a year.
I used a little rubber cement on my Sony NEX-7 eyepiece. It never came off after that. I figured that rubber cement would be not so permanent as other glues.

Interesting - I thought it was just me! I finally stocked up on several. Sure someone will come up with a clever solution.
With the Sony mirrorless cameras you see the same things in the view finder and in live view. YOu might consider using live view.

I just stopped using the eyepiece with the 6000 because of that problem.
