The marks are dye that shows a Ram has mated with the sheep, the Ram wears a harness which transfers the dye. The farmer then knows which sheep will produce lambs in approximately 145 days.

Iconic Yorkshire, Sylvia, and I'm absolutely blown away! Such beautiful countryside and you've captured it all--the patchwork countryside outlined by thicket hedges and stone walls, the low flowing clouds, the narrow roads, the sheep... So many stories about the Moors, the heather. It is such a pleasure for me to see these. Thank you.

Thank you very much Mike appreciate you looking in. It can be a slow job waiting for them to move! Some of them lay on the tarmac roads that hold the heat and seem quite oblivious to any traffic wanting to get by.
