hello all,
I've been dabbling in photography for a few years now and recently starting shooting concerts. I think this is a great site and would love to benefit from all the knowledge available here. Any concert photo tips would be greatly appreciated and I will post a few for creative critism from time to time.
Thanks much,
Tink

I've shot a couple and I definitely do not use flash. Besides the fact that they probably will prohibit it, you really may not need it depending on the lighting on stage. Practice at home with one lamp on in the room.

I never use a flash. they are completely prohibited. For really dark venues I use a 50mm 1.8 prime.

Here is a video of aphotog who does a 3 song concert photo shoot with you looking over his shoulder and afterwords does a play by play on the images he captured...it's VERY informative.

Rob - really interesting stuff! Fro knows his stuff - and I like how he shows his 'goofs' and less-than-ideal shots. Very informative and he really tacked some tough criticism. Thanks for the post!

I will be going to a Yanni concert soon and my Lumix has a high sensitivity setting which works great in dimness and at night. I am in the tenth row, so I hope it all works out.

Which Lumix and what editing program do you use- I have Lumix FZ18 and use PS7 and CS4- there are few photos that can't be turned into "Keepers" from "Trash"

It is a DMC-ZS1-In the MY SCENE area on the dial, it is among the selections as High Sensitivity. Takes great pics at night, no flash as well as indoor w/ no flash.-Don't know what you mean by keepers from trash. Once you delete in camera, they are gone. But I love this camera.
