Hi, I've tried LR to clone/heal telephone posts and wires and cars in an image. It doesn't do a very good job. On the other hand, it could be operator problems. Besides Photoshop 6, can anyone suggest an easy program to editing out these types of things? I have a number of buildings to edit, and I don't want it to take forever. Thanks

You don't want PS 6, so I won't suggest it works better than LR! But by posting, I can learn what others might suggest as good choices!

Depending on the image (background, complexity of wires, etc.) there may well be no "easy" way to do this. I use CS6 and some images take hours to get right.

For cars or any other moving subjects in a capture, use a tripod and take several images that you then selectively merge together. There are numerous videos on this technique on the web, including one from a UHH user (Steve Perry).

Wires, poles or static objects are removable using various tools that will work well ONLY if you take the time to learn their strength and limitation.

ArcSoft Photo Studio 6 has a wonderful cloning tool that is easy to learn and use for this.

You've been given some good advice, but my short answer is PS CC spot healing brush using 'content-aware'. It's much, much better than the tool provided in Lightroom.

I use "Inpaint" it's very good for removing items like poles and lines etc:

Faststone Viewer - 'Clone' - not 'heal'. Excellent, simple implementation.

Otherwise, PaintShopPro.

I had 'good' results using PSE10, detailed in this UHH posting. For myself I used the healing brush and took spots from some distance away from the plant I was removing to avoid a more noticeable repeat. I also used the 'replace' option rather than the default 'normal' option. I'm sure that if these are available in Elements they'll be Lightroom somewhere.

Rongnongno gave you the right answer; Wires, poles or static objects are removable using various tools that will work well ONLY if you take the time to learn their strength and limitation. I would add Practice - Practice - Practice.

I don't like LR for cloning out things I don't want. I often use Irfanview - free program.

You can use PS Elements. I use it as a back end to LR. I do all my exposure edits in LR, than from within Lightroom I send it as a TIFF to Elements. In Elements I use its tools to do things such a removing telephone wires, and send the edited result back to Lightroom. The content aware tools in Elements are much more suited to the task.

Photoshop with content aware fill works well. I use MacPhun's Snapheal often and it's great.
