OK, I'm going to bite the bullet and upgrade to Win 10. I want to clone my hard drive before I do so, what is the best way to do it? Software ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why do you want to clone your drive? In any case, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuI2yFSAiN0

Just a caveat. Cloning a drive doesn't necessarily mean that the cloned drive will be bootable.

Directions for cloning. First collect the DNA of the drive to be cloned. Inject the DNA onto a fetal stem cell of a new drive-----

I use Macrium Reflect. It's free and works great.

I use a program called Norton Ghost. I hook up an external hard drive to a USB port and tell Norton to duplicate the boot drive or C drive. Remove the external drive, label it, put it away, and save it in case your drive crashes or ???

For a bootable clone I reco Carbon Copy Cloner or Superduper. I use Carbon Copy with great success. It will also do incremental backups of your clone. Just the clone is free, but if you want the incremental capability and other features, there is a fee.

I use Acronis. I've been using it regularly for about 6-7 years.
It makes an EXACT DUPLICATE, including the manufacturer's hidden partitions. It has saved my butt a few times.
