HDR Photography -- Before and After
Software advice please

Hello,
I'd like to try HDR and I'm wanting to find a good software package that is relatively easy to use to get decent results. Also, any that can do the same for Tone mapping from a single image - Any advice please?

Thanks
Phil

Photomatix is, I believe, about the best available. If you already have Photoshop, the HDR module in it is actually not bad. I've heard (but have no experience with it) that the module in Lightroom is also not bad. NIK has a decent HDR package (HDR Efex) that comes with their suite that you can still download free from Google.

Depending on what you have for general photo editing software, Zoner has a full image editing package that has an HDR module built into it. I used an earlier version of the Zoner for HDR a while back and it did a reasonable job on HDR as well.

I recommend Photomatix. It is easy to use and provides great results.

I have used NIK for years and like it for both types of edits. Jason Odell at www.luminescentphoto.com has some very good instruction on its use as well as a set of filters for finishing that are better than the NIK ones.

Photomatix Pro. You take a 3 picture burst with one at -1 or - 2 EV one at correct setting and one at +1 or +2 EV. Then Photomatix takes care of it. David

I like the version in Lightroom CC. Also like Lightroom's Panorama software. Best of luck!
