File size problem when trying to upload photo

I'm trying to upload a photo to UHH for reader help and can't seem to get it to "original" size. It is a 3.72 mb jpeg file in Aperture 3, but when I export it (at "original size jpeg) to my desktop in preparation to upload, Finder says it's only 1.7 mb.

Will that be large enough for you to critique?

Since it's a jpeg file, I already suspect I won't be able to have it printed the way I hoped, but I'd at least like everyone to see it as good as possible.

When you attach the photo, check on the "Store original" box. Double check your export preferences in LR - you may have it set for less than full quality, thereby compressing the file more.

If you are on a Mac, just do an email, then at the bottom of the email you can resize it really easy. Then just drag it to your desk top. I make my pictures all bigger that way. Very easy.

JPG is a high compression format. Its a 3.72MB file when opened, but when compressed and saved it only uses 1.7MB of space. Thats the difference.
