Since Google is no longer supporting Picasa, I am looking for a similar piece of software to replace it. Nothing too complicated, but has basic features to edit photos and print them. Thanks for any advice.
picasa work fine as it is , dont need support from google . that is what i use , no plan to change .
I use Lightroom and Elements (and prefer Elements), but Fastsone is a nice program with a nice cost-- free. I haven't found anything that can remotely compare to Picasa's facial recognition, however-- maybe the CIA or the NSA. It's an extraordinary feature, especially for a "free" program.

Yes! Absolutely! I contacted BOTH the CIA and NSA, and they were not forthcoming with any software that could be downloaded for free to the public.
Then I contacted the producer's of the TV show "Person of Interest". Again no luck.
I turned 73 this year, and "facial recognition" is getting to be a bit of a problem, but not nearly as troubling as last week, when I got behind a certain freight truck in Bend Oregon, and followed it to Redding CA before I realized it was taking way too long to drive home from the Post Office.
So I guess, I will continue to use Faststone Image Viewer, which is free and has many more tools than Picasa ever had, and an 89 page PDF tutorial, also a separate free download. The tutorial is great and I memorized it (well, I thought I did) on the way to Redding. Can't seem to recall much of it, so I keep it on the desk next to my computer. Now where did I put....................................???
If you are only using Picasa to edit, there is no reason to look elsewhere until your version crashes
But a step up is PS Elements, as suggested. You can do basics, or guided, or get into "expert" if at some point that interests you. I love Elements, but I also still use my Picasa editor for a number of features.

Go to Google, they brought out their own replacement for it. They call it Google Photos.
I use Google Photos, it's an excellent organiser and has a limited but very good editor.
picassa is still a good editing software.in the beginning i solely used picassabut now i use lightroom and photoshop but i still use picassa for issues like texting and it does a great job, joseph
Serif has a free photo editor that I use on my secondary computer. I purchased Serif's PhotoPlus which I like but their free version is very similar and has most of the features. It's easy to use and the tutorials for PhotoPlus applies since they are so similar.
There's always GIMP, has a bit more of a learning curve and no adjustment layers yet, but it's free and gets the job done.
