I live in NW Arkansas. I got lured to the forum with one of those "One Weird Photo Trick for the PERFECT Photo" ads, but I'm glad I fell for it.

I work & live in one of the most beautiful places in the state, which is a huge motivation in learning to take better pictures, so here I am. :)

Actually, no. But it's ok. She was one of the resident snakes at my last job, so I was often close to her.

Yes. That is a copperhead. And just as a disclaimer, don't try that home. :) Unless you're trained to handle snakes.

I took it with my point and shoot while we were cleaning their tanks. She was in a temporary tank and my coworker and I took the top off, for us to get a good picture of her pits, to show people where the term "pit viper" comes from. We had protective equipment and were familiar with the snake and her habits. We never would have tried that with either of the rattle snakes. Especially the pygmy rattler. He has an attitude problem. Maybe its from being called pygmy his whole life? I have tons of pictures of our king snakes and rat snakes, but only a few of the copperhead.

Of course the pygmy rattler has an attitude.... it is always the little ones that cause trouble. :)

That is a great shot of the copperhead... the pit is obvious. Thanks for sharing!!
