I really need to get me a flower i.d. book, just as I got for birds.
This is a wildflower growing alongside the road where I take my walks.

That it has five pink petals and is found on the roadside helps, so I looked in my old 1987 "Peterson Wildflowers" book. Without knowing more, leaves, stalk, location in country, etc., I can only guess it's in the Phlox family.
Best QUESS by me is a Moss Phlox (also called Moss-Pink).
I'm likely wrong and others might be more knowledgeable.
Beautiful shot, Wendy! It looks like phlox a little, but what do I know? LOL
