A couple of weeks ago I was awakened by the shrill cry of some bird of prey. Two Cooper Hawks ( I believe ) have moved into our neighborhood. We are a few hundred yards from the Bolsa Chica Wetlands, which is a protected wild life sanctuary. Home to coyotes, foxes, fish and many breeds of birds. We have squirrels living in many trees.
The Hawks have not shown much fear of humans. In fact I was able to get fairly close one late afternoon. Note the reddish lighting.

yes, Cooper Hawks have that long striped tail.
Great captures....really like #2

Wish I had a couple of neighbors like that. Good shots and have fun with them while they are visiting.
A neighbor of mine has some homing pigeons and is frustrated by hawks going after them. Says they can outrun the red tailed but the coopers are much faster. I see red tailed a lot but have not been lucky enough to see any cooper hawks let alone be fast enough to get pictures. Nice pictures.
Wonderful shots, Boney! Very nicely done!
