I'm interested in learning to use photoshop i see alot of different versions available, where do I start?
Elements would be a good place to start unless you want to jump in with both feet. Photoshop CS5 is the newest version. YouTube is a great way to figure stuff out as there's lots of great vids out there.
Elements 10 I believe was just released - as a rule the latest is around $100, #9 very likely can be had for $80 or less - older version even less. The Full Photoshop version I believe something like CS4 or 5 will run you around $700 full price. If you never used it before I would think either version 9 or 10 will do you nicely - the full one is just plain flat out over kill for most. If you have the money and desire they would be gald to sell it to you. As to actually using it everyone learns best in their own way. Ther are numerous books such as one in the Dummies series to one called "The Missing Manual" by Barbara Brundage. There are of course numerous Utube videos, many schools offer both online and courses at their schools. What has worked best for me is a combination of the above plus a whole lot of doing and messing up - but I have not blown anything up yet.
Elements? is that apart of adobe or another photo program? I've just used what ever came with my point and shoot camra. I have picture style editor that came with my rebel but have no idea how to use it. Is this the same type of program.

Yes -both Photoshop Elements and their full program which I believe is CS4 or may be #5 is the latest are Adobe products. I think the latest version of Elements released is 10 - higher the number indicates the most recent version - the latest will cost the most, older ones can be found at a discount. I have never looked at the editing program that came with my Rebel but yes it very likely offers some of the same options - I would guess not as many though.

May not be as big as drain as that next just gotta have that biggest, baddest lens out there or about a thousand other pieces of hardware but yes of course everything can be over done; or over paid and under used, or actully needed but don't have - lots of options.
