For those of you who use Portrait Professional what if any is the advantage of going with the newer version? I have 10.7, I think there is a 10.8 out and then there is the Portrait Professional Studio. What is your thought.
Now for 'tack' sharpness- sometimes I use manual focus but have been unsure of a good focus. I have reached that point in time (actually for a few yrs now) where I use reading glasses so I wonder if this has something to do with my focusing. On auto focus it seems it wants to focus slightly off from my subject. What to do?
Thanks bunches. :-)

With regard to Portrait Professional...any time there is an upgrade to an application owned, it is wise to bring it up-to-date. The changes may not be apparent in the photo you are working on but could improve the way your computer is handling them...upgrades usually are "fixes" for something. PP should be releasing Version 11 soon (I hope) free to those who recently purchased version 10.

Thanks Elle. If 11 is coming soon then maybe I should just wait or would you say go on and get the 10.8 version?

It might be time to adjust your "diopter correction" on your camera's viewfinder, if it has one. Look for an itty-bitty knob that you can turn right next to your viewfinder. If you nail a page of text to a wall (maybe just tape it there) and with your camera on a tripod, have the camera auto-focus on the page, then look through the viewfinder and turn the knob back and forth to make the view as sharp as possible. Have plenty of light on the page, and make sure your camera is level and at the same height as the paper.
When you remove the page from the wall, remove the nail as well, and go find some plaster to fix the hole...then you're finished!

I have it and they keep coming out with a new improved version and if I act now, I can get a discount. I never got a free upgrade. When they come up in my email, I delete without even looking. When the time comes that they add enough new features, then I will upgrade. I have the studio version 10 and it is just fine for now.

Deanna

Depends? If head shots and portraits are your thing and you earn an Income (hobby) from the pursuit by all means keep current.
If not I upgrade every other version and I don't feel the least bit neglected.

I also get an offer every ninety or so days.

It's free and installs itself without problem, so why are you hesitating?

Thanks everyone for the inputs. Think I will go ahead and get the free download. Now to work on getting my photos sharper, esp. the portrait type ones.:)
