I like it Voss.
Leaving open the large area ,camera right, really emphasizes the two friends and makes the statement.

I am always amazed that under the guise of being a "photographer" you have the right to infringe on a total stranger and take their picture and do with it as you wish.

You have no right to infringe on anyone with photography. None.
But that picture does not in any way infringe on the subjects. They have chosen to be in a public place, on display for everyone and anyone to see.
To protect yourself, if you wish not to put yourself on public display, it really is easy: shut your door. Photography through a keyhole absolutely is infringing. Same with peeping through windows. Etc. Etc. Etc.
Voss' picture is not, nor is it even close, to infringing on anyone.

You essentially say that I (or any other photographer) have no right to take this or any other photo of another person. On what do you base that opinion? And, for your information, there are legal limits to what a person can do with the photo of another person.

Is there any inquiry if they want their picture taken?

Why would there be? None is needed.

The question is irrelevant. If they are in a public place, they have no say in the matter.
In more practical terms, one cannot even go to the grocery store without having one's picture taken. There are cameras at intersections, over parking lots, on major buildings (e.g. hospitals, banks), outside of, and inside of, stores (including your corner grocery), and so on. It's the world we live in. You will have your picture taken somewhere.
