Had a chance to visit Houston during the weekend. Went to the Houston Space Center and
took the tram ride to Christopher C. Kraft Jr. Mission Control Center. Awesome stuff ! Viewing
the actual control center of the Apollo missions brought back my childhood memories. It was hard to
believe that I am in the actual room that many famous people sat back in the day and that this is
the place from where some years ago the greatest engineering feat in human history was achieved. As a child
I was glued to the radio then as history was made. Today I am in that room !

No. 1 - Is a picture of that room. The rotary dials and bulky equipment gives you a glimpse of that era.

No. 2 - Now for the photo buffs. Nikon was there too

Your images brought back the same memories. The Nikon F was my first Nikon and I bought it shortly after the Apollo mission.
Thanks Sundar for the memories.

Cool...I watched the Blu-Ray copy of Apollo 13 a few days ago I just bought - I couldn't resist. The 20th anniversary edition was on sale at Best Buy for $7.99 and it has several extras that the DVD doesn't have. I have the DVD, but am starting to replace the good ones (just like I replaced some of my VHS tapes with DVDs). The first Blu-Ray I ever bought was a few months ago. I replaced my VHS 4:3 copy of Full Metal Jacket. WOW. Then I replaced my Fifth Element DVD and did a comparison between the DVD and the Blu-Ray 4K remaster and noticed a difference in both color and clarity. I've never used a Nikon...I'm a Sony guy (but also have a film Canon). Several years ago while visiting my parents in south-central FL we decided on the spot to get up early the next morning (I'm talking like 2AM) and drive up to Cape Canaveral to watch one of the space shuttle launches. Dawn departure. Got there around 5 and there were already hundreds of people waiting at the beach and a line out the door at McDonald's. We decided to get something to eat...when we got out, the line was around the building! The launch went off perfectly...golden glow, no wind, just a few puffy clouds. Talk about sensory overload! It took maybe 10 seconds for the sound to arrive. SNAP, CRRRACKLE, POP, RROOAARRRR!! I got a neat video of it and a snapshot (on my Facebook page) of the exhaust plume. It was my one and only rocket launch viewing. We later went to the complex for the tour. I'd love to go back.
