Not with the D750 as I don't have one. With other cameras the 2 situations you mentioned, Night photo and Indoors still, are the situations where I most likely use the manual mode.

I have a D 750. I have used manual, but more often use Aperture, U 1 which is my custom color or U 2 which is my custom Monochrome. I have also had good luck with night shots using P. I enjoy night photos and the D 750 does them very well. You probably already know that you have Night vision under Effects. That can be handy on occasion.

You handle makes me wonder, do you shoot with a Nikon D750?

Experiment by shooting both ways; study your results and you'll find the better way for the results you want. No one can really tell you how to shoot those situations without knowing the results you want.

I know several successful photographers who use aperture and shutter speed. I don't use anything but manual because that is the way I trained myself. To each his/her own. The image you end up with is what counts.

Generally, I use Aperture, but for certain situations, like night - I'll use Manual.

I use primarily Aperture priority on my D750. Alternatively, I use manual. Most of the "special" exposure modes, such as the scene modes, are wasted on me. I have no use for them.

Yes I use A mode often too. But night scene the meter tends to give me wrong exposure due to very wide dynamic range of typical nigh scene where you have bright lights and dark area so I use manual so that I can change exposure more easily. I never use the EC. For indoor a lot of time the light doesn't change so I set it right for one shot and I can use the same settings for all other shots.

Aperture priority, manual, shutter priority, programmed, in that order of frequency.
