Anyone with experience of both willing to share opinions? I am trying to decide between the two.

Thanks.

I have tried both Zenfolio and SmugMug, but prefer 500px.com for my best images. I like the website set-up and commercial options. My "page" address is by my name, lower left.

I started off with Smugmug but I really had a hard time making my website because I have no clue about making a website. I tried to follow their tutorials for setting up your website but something always went wrong. The turning point for me is when I asked for help and did not receive it. So I went to Zenfolio where it was cheaper. Setting up my website with the templates they offered had my website up and running in less than an hour. When I asked for help they responded to my email in less than 20 minutes.

Most photographers business operates through their website and I want someone who will assist me within a day at the most. Smugmug did have more features than Zenfolio but Zenfolio for me was easier to follow for a person who knows nothing about making a website. So for me I am very happy with Zenfolio. My website operates on it's own and that is what I need for me.

I've had Smugmug, Zenfolio, and now Flickr.
I'm not a pro and I don't sell photos.

Smugmug LOOKS great but is expensive.

Zenfolio looks pretty good and is easy to get started with and is ABOUT the same price as SM but maybe a bit cheaper.

If it were me....I'd go with Zenfolio.

I'm a huge fan of smugmug, I share it with a few family members, so the price isn't too bad.

I am in the process of setting up my SmugMug account today. Having a bit of a problem, don't know that much about web design but will tuff it out. Not sure about the other one ya'll were talking about but SM seems to be really aggressive as far as getting you
listed in the major search engines. Guess time will tell.

I tried Zenfolio and it was quite easy to set up. And they appear to reduce the resolution of the images when you download the photos to the site.

That was my problem with SmugMug. It will definitely get you listed in the major search engines. Zenfolio will give you the steps to get listed in the major search engines which you have to do yourself but it works just a little slower. If SmugMug doesn't work for you checkout Zenfolio they have a 30 day free trial period. I know they did go up on their packages I have the premium it was $100 a year when I purchased it in December 2011.

Thanks Made for a lot of hair pulling on my part but think I just about have it completed. Had forgotten what all was involved with web design.
