I went to a concert recently and shot about 100 photos, some zoomed in, so wide. I noticed when I printed them that they looked like I cut the singers image out and pasted it into the background.
I'm using a Panasonic DMC-ZS60 which I purchased specifically for concerts since you can't bring in cameras with removable lenses.

Probably your DoF. You probably hand the camera wide open. It tends to look like that.

Deep black backgrounds sometimes give that effect. Example / Sample ???

It looks good on the screen but when I print the image looks more 3D-ish.

I use an Epson Artisan 1430

Optical illusion because most of the image is hazy, and the one singer is not.

So lighting. One person said that dark background tend to make it look 3D, so it makes sense.

Getting ready for Paul McCartney at Fenway Park so I'm hoping to get some great shots.

I was about 100 + feet back on this last concert and outside (under the stars) of the stadium so I was actually happy with most of the results.

I like the result. Awesome photo. I photograph a lot of concerts for personal use only, the last one in Indianapolis I was refused admission because my camera had interchangeable lenses. I had to take the camera back to the car. That seems to be a new policy in a lot of venues. Now I have been using my pocket sized Canon SX260HS.

Hey, you are at a concert, expect some noise and a light show! (I like the shot you took by the way)

The lead singer literally stands out from the background. Basically, a coincidence. Lucky shot.
