Bridge over troubled waters
Recently our family went to the Redwoods in Northern California. It's a beautiful time of year like most places in the USA. We came upon this old bridge that I wanted to share for your comments.
Thanks in advance!

You got my attention. That is my favorite song!
Great shot. I might have allowed this one to be more centered instead of thirdsy. Gives you more of that "where is this headed" theme. Maybe a little more saturation to bring out the old rust.
Disclaimer: decent amateur (self-titled), just know what I like and what I'd do.

Thanks for your comments. I like getting ideas from others, it helps me to see new vantage points and think outside of the box a bit more.

I agree. You look at your own shot and know it's okay but something is missing. One person looks at it and says, the focal point is not where you wanted it and then I SEE IT!
I like it. Reminds me of walking on railroad tracks when I was a child. I still do when I find a track. I like the converging of the tracks into the wooded area.
I see a perhaps reluctant person starting a journey on a heightened bridge, crossing the bridge, going into a darker area and trusting there is daylight at the end. I would like to have seen the beginning section of the bridge just for the sake of my imagination.
Please post more.
Thank you

and the water is?
The water is troubled of course! You know that water always seeks the lowest place.......the water is under the bridge!
I too would have went more centered for this shot as it would also show more detail of the bridge but nice as it is now.

I like your composition (not the suggested/centered one, which is extremely typical and boring) it works well.
The shot seems washed out/over exposed on my monitor. If you're using a DSLR, take a moment to play with your settings. If you're using a P&S, point the light meter at a slightly shaded area, (not quite fully shaded, not in the light) and the camera will adjust the settings.
I really like your POV, I would like to see the RR ties a little less washed out, and the shot in the portrait mode to include the top of the bridge to better frame the ultimate point of interest. Great leading lines, color and contrast overall. I like it a lot!

By popular demand, here is another view of the bridge from a little way further from the entrance to it and a slightly different perspective.
There you go. That is what I wanted to see. I like that. You also have the sunlight and shadows. Thank you so much. Not everyone would have tried so hard to please.
Looking forward to viewing more pictures from you.
Glad to please........and at your request, I am adding some more photos of the bridge. The photo of the bike with the tracks is looking the opposite direction from the bridge. I just noticed in the vertical shot of the bridge that it was made in 1909. It's seen some seasons! Over 100 of them!
Very good. I noticed written on the left side "No Trespassing" That bridge and the area has some history and beauty. What do you think of your pictures? That is important. Thank you again for posting.

No Trespassing? Yikes! Yes, you are right! My son rode his bike over part of that no trespassing part!
As far as what I think of the photos goes, I like the perspective views, because they kind of suck you into the photo as a viewer. If I were to critique the photos, I would give myself a D+ on white balance but a B+ on composition. Here is a photo of the crime scene of my son riding towards the no trespassing part!
