While visiting family in Upstate NY this past week I had chance to get out and do some photo shoots of the area....this is one of some interest....
Stands 150 ft above the Rondout Creek...940 ft long....originally opened in 1872....now part of the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail.
In the third photo you can see St. Peter's Catholic Church and school in the background....I attended the school and church as a child..

Great set indeed....really like #2 with the strength of the steel to the left contrasting the calm of the valley below....well done.

Nice photos. Are you a DePuy Canal House descendent?

Yes, me too. The lines in the last shot make the photo.

Not sure of that ....I do know that my descendants were some of the first settlers in the New Paltz area ...French Huguenots...

Wow...my curiosity got the best of me, so I checked this area out on Google Maps and Streetview. What a beautiful area I must say. I loved the steel structure that supports the walkway and loved the downtown area of Rosendale. Such a nice town...the whole area is lovely. Thanks for posting.

James: you have to walk the walkway to really appreciate it.

I bet that's right. I was so amazed how one city led to another...hard to tell when one city ends and another begins. Lots of beautiful homes, curvy roads, hills...so different than the midwest where I grew up. I'd like to visit, maybe someday...

glad you enjoyed these.....I also made it over to the Walkway over the Hudson....haven't got around to posting any photo's of that yet....
also glad you took the time to look up the area....
If ever do get to make it to that area you need to go to New Paltz and check out all of the old stone house....I had it on my agenda to take some photographs of that area but time did not allow it...I lived in the area for 21 yrs. and never gave it a thought and now its like wow look at all the things you missed....Tom
