After a few years with my A-100, I still dont quite get it; some pictures are terrific, struggling with low light shots. Took a clsee with a pro recently, went over camera settings etc. I am feeling the pull of the descriptions of shooting in low light with the NEX models; Any comments welcome- is it worth the $$ to trade up, or should I stay with the A-100 and learn how to use it properly? My main useage is shooting interior shots of homes.
BTW, UHH is the best site found on the Internet in recent memory! TY, All.

I have had the Sony NEX5 for over a year and love it. I purchased it for a trip to Alaska and got some incredible pictures. I use it inside at a school where I teach. I have also taken videos and pictures in very dark places with excellent results. It came with a flash attachment but I have never used it. Bottom line: it Sony NEX is worth the money.

I have a friend how loves the nexus. He is a professional photographer and and full frame cameras. He constantly raves about the quality. In fact, he trades in his old model everytime a new one comes out.

Let's not get carried away here Guys. The A100 is an excellent CCD sensored camera even if it is a bit long in the tooth now and in addition we don't even know what lens you are using.

Sure you can rush out and buy say, a NEX-5N and you will gain a whole stop (irony intended) of usable ISO but is that enough? Are you going to be happy with the handling of the tiny NEX and what about the limited, as yet, choice of lens?

I'd like to know what lens you are using for these interior shots and whether or not you use a tripod.

p.s. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with the NEX, I have one myself, but as well as not instead of a DSLR.

I am baffled by the question above asking if that Sony NEX is worth the money.
To me it’s a great camera with low price. I was so impressed with the 5a I couldn't wait until the NEX-7 came out and bought it. The photos are as good as my MkIII Ds and it’s light and easy for this old guy to carry around. ( I call
the big Canon a boat anchor). And plus the NEX adapts with ease to all my Leica glass. A wonderful camera that Sony!

I know a lady with a Canon DSLR who recently purchased a NEX 5. The point is the NEX are great cameras, but thier smallness is a concern for handling. Also I have seen that (maybe with andaptor) you can the lenses for A100 in the NEX.

I totally agree - more information is needed before jumping ship. It sounds like you need low light performance - let that need guide you in your decision making process.

Come to think of it instead of the NEX get one of those
new specialized and super-sensor black and white ONLY
Leica M9’s. Then you won't have to fool around with all
that messy color stuff!

Nice camera the Nex5-7. Features offering is amazing meeting 99% of needs. Have to get it into your own hands to understand the solid feel. Perfect camera if your ego isn't an issue and weight or size is a consideration.
It is my backup, purchased for wife. Fits lots of needs.

Do they offer any constant aperture lenses? Like a 2.8 zoom for helping with the indoor low light conditions?

That's whats cool about these NEX cameras, you can adapt all sorts of lenses.
