I love them all! When you say that the Kori Bustard is the largest flying land bird, exactly how big is the wing span? I thought that the Condor was the largest.

The Kori Bustard is the heaviest flying bird and the Condor has the longest wing span of the land birds. (Albatros holds the record for all birds-land and sea).

The heaviest flying bird is the Kori Bustard of Africa (Ardeotis kori), a number of specimens have been scientifically recorded weighing 19kg (42lb)

The title of 'Bird with the Longest Wings' also has several close contenders with the Andean Condor (Vultur gryphus) with a well recorded wingspan of 3m (10ft) and the Maribou Stork (Leptoptilus crumeniferous) with a known wing span 2.87 m (9ft6ins)

Good shooting. Was someone doing a study on the Weaver? It has a band on the right leg. Thanks for sharing. Hope to get to Africa some day.

Hi Bozsik - Thank you for your feedback. I'm not sure, but I assume that one of the universities would have been conducting a study. Hope that you get to Africa - you'll enjoy it immensely. :D
