Now I didn't know they carried them like this but having found one on the doorstep (just as I was about to go to bed) I had to have a go. It's not good, but it's only my second stack and it's taken at night by the porch light, so give me a break! Actually, feel free to comment, I can take it.

I love spiders, and I love this photo, Dave! Well worth a few lost hours of sleep IMO

Now, the question we all need answered: did mom and kids make it safely outside after the photo op?

I once opened an exterior door only to find a large orb web had been constructed outside overnight, some of which was sticking to the door. Babies had hatched and I suddenly had hundreds in my laundry room. Better to have them congregated on mom methinks!

I love spiders, and I love this photo, Dave! Well ... (show quote)

Last seen wandering off down the front path. I'm now off to bed to see what the nightmares are like!

Quite nice, considering the light.

Welcome to closeup, Dave! Looks like a great shot to me and especially on the download...and I've never seen the kids hitch a ride on spider mom's back before.

Thank you suci - probably more ' considering total lack of experience and lighting kit'!

Thanks Donna, I have a nasty feeling this close-up thing might be addictive! Better hide the credit card!

Magnetoman, excellent photo. I also have a love/hate relationship with this creature. Love to photograph them but if one gets on me I freak out. I have been envenomed by them in the past.

Ah, I did have one in my pyjamas once that bit my backside! Then there was the time I connected a hose pipe to a tap and sucked - to move an air lock - got a mouthful of spider that had bedded down in the hose - not pleasant! I'm OK photographing them as long as they don't move. Thanks for looking Greg.

I'm afraid I'm not with Linda on this in regard to loving spiders. I generally leave them alone. That said, I find that this is a most interesting photo. Although it makes my skin crawl, I can appreciate why you took the shot and am glad that I'm seeing this as YOUR photo and not as a visitor on my porch.

Yep! One very loaded mom. And a good shot of them all! Welcome to closeup!
