Need help with solar eclipse photo

Hi, the upcoming solar eclipse will be my first ever,and I was wondering if anyone has tips on equipment and settings. PS... I am using a canon t2i (550d)

Where will you be shooting from?
Ah, I see. It's passing over Nevada on May 20. Maybe I should plan a visit to my brother-in-law.

As said in FAQ on UHH, start with Sunny 16 settings and adjust as needed from there. Post some of these shots.

First thing you should know...DON'T LOOK THROUGH THE VIEWFINDER. Yes, I was yelling. I'm sure you knew that but it didn't hurt to emphasize it.

Second. There are solar filters you can buy which will eliminate the danger of cooking your sensor.

I researched this a few months back because there's supposed to be a Venus transit in June and I wanted to be able to photograph it without damaging my camera.
