I am reviewing and editing over 400 shots from our family trip and realized a caption can be added in PSE. Added captions to grand daughters candid pics (they don't always pose) but have no idea where or if captions are printed. Can any UHH's who use PSE tell me, if they appear on the print and where; on bottom on white border or in picture, etc. Appreciate any info about print captions. Don't wont bad surprises. Thankyou in advance Tony
Run a test print that will show where you have set the captions.
You should be able to put text where you want it...

Tony, Use the "Insert Text" tool in PSE; it is the tool with the "T" in the tool list. You can then use almost any font, color, size and placement you want. You will probably have to do some experimentation; I find it difficult to get the right test size vs. print size without doing a sample print. Usually, if you can read it on a 4" x 6", it will also work on a larger print.

The only two ways I ever add text to my photos, is:
1 - right on the photo itself, if that seems suitable.
2 - by adding a white strip to the bottom of the photo and typing my text on there.
PSE goes further, and I suspect these options come via the Organiser, as I can't find a way to enter them in PSE itself. (I don't use the Organiser, so am no help there).
File-> File Info; I have added info in some parts here, but never checked if it would print or not.
Print-> More Options->Show Caption; this is the choice I believe will come from Organiser.
I did a preview with 'Show File Name' - it will be centered above the photo when printing. Therefore I'm thinking that a caption will print in that spot as well.
Your best bet is to select a photo and print it (small and at low resolution to save ink) - that way you'll know exactly what you're dealing with and can share it here as well :-)
I won't be using this myself, but others may be thankful you tried it out.
Edit: Also see my next post, two messages down from here.
Not at home for 2 weeks so can't do a test print but will look for T insert text (Using PSE 13) Yes the add text appears in organizer under enlarged print. Thank you all for help and ideas and will report as soon as I learn more.

Do you have a PDF printer installed on your computer? I use PDFCreator. It is a free program, and installs like any other printer.
Once you've set up all your "wishes" in the print dialog in PSE, select PDFCreator as your printer (down-arrow beside default printer name, select from list). Then "Print" and you can open your photo on your screen like any pdf file, and see it as if printed on paper with ink.

If you have a PDF printer driver or a "Print to File" option, use that.
I usually send my prints to Shutterfly or Walmart but since I'm away from my home printer, can't use the HP to run samples. Will look into PDF printer, but wont mind using a little ink to check for captions.

Not sure who you were replying to here but Mallen and Morning Star are explaining how you can "see" the photo with your text added on your screen exactly how it will look when you DO print it. It's easy to do, and handy for a lot of things.

Yes I understood the idea of the PDF download to see how it will look before printing but I will hold off if I find captions all right from Shutterfly. Easy to use doesn't always seem that way for an old hand like me.
