I like it. Sharp as can be; but I detect no halos or fringing. Excellent textures. Background is very pleasing. I've often considered shooting the dead flowers because the have the same kind of beauty as the blooming ones. Usually the colors fade as is the case here; but the textures and fine detail make up for any lack of vibrant colors. Also shades of brown certainly qualify as color. A very nice image with thought and care given to composition. Success.

I really like the detail and intricacy. Were it mine I would have added more pop (and likely overdone it).

Thanks.
Just remember to reduce the saturation after adjusting the vibrance.

I like Piet's reference to intricacy. I can get lost in the details, textures, layers. Really beautifully done.

Thank you. And I had intended to say that I liked your "Midnight on the bridge into Yakima" (among others) but I got distracted. Too much computer. A high maintenance 7 year old Pit Bull. Too many toys. On the plus side: no Face Book, no Twitter and no cell phone.

There is a lot to like here. Very nice light, excellent subject, good non-distracting background. The subject has excellent lines. I think those lines would make a good BW. I would move the image to the left a bit, offset the center and show less of the stem.

I prefer my crop but your version is quite acceptable. But the BW is just too dark for me. Using your crop my BW version would have looked more like the one below. Just a matter of personal taste, perhaps a carry-over from my darkroom days.

Thanks for taking an interest.

Very nice. Great detail and the subdued blue/yellow color palette works well. I'm attracted to dead and flawed flowers as well, so I am glad to see someone who does their unique kind of beauty justice. Thanks for sharing this one.

Like you "I take pictures of things I find interesting, and worry about the message later".

Thanks for providing a great quote to add to my list of favorites; it was a nice picture too.

Lets call them aging blooms please and like a certain type of woman they look good in the first flush of youth but look even better as they mature. Love shots of flowers in this condition and yours is the best I have seen in quite a while. A conversion to BW because you can certainly not because u should. Leave it in colour. Its a very nice piece of work like that.

Those who invalidate the comments of others are themselves invalidated.

Luckily the forum is well regulated and has probably the best moderator on the Hog who runs the the show rather well. I tend to trust him to decide if comments are valid or not. The forum is built on valuing and respecting the opinions of others even if you do not agree with them dear boy.
I think the person who posted this excellent shot did so for opinions of others on his work only not so sure he asked for for opinions about opinions?
