I received a jury summons. It allowed me to opt out due to my age(84). I checked that option. Several days later I received this card. apparently you can get younger. I just want to know how.

No doubt there are government guidelines on how this should be done!

If you don't want your address out on the internet, you should also blackout the barcode type marks (intelligent mail barcode) that appears under your address. It is readable by downloadable apps on smartphones.

I just received a Jury Summons too! In the past, I've managed to get out of it by stating how much I admire Lawyers (not) in the Voir dire.

I only remember being called for jury duty once, many years ago. As a dentist with a full load of patients, I think I was excused. Now retired, with plenty of time, I think serving jury duty would be an interesting thing to do.

I'll be 71 soon and after sitting on 5 jury cases, 3 districts and 2 federal, I feel that I've done my duty! Though very interesting, hope I never get another call!

You know, my sister received a jury summons, a few weeks after she passed away. I returned it with a note explaining that she had died. She received the same reply as you. Go figure.

I only served once and it was absolutely fascinating. I intensely sat and listened to every word from each of the three attorneys (Probate Court - three different groups claiming an estate.) The lawyers' deliveries were better than anything on television. After lunch one day we were kept in the Jury Room for an hour before being led back into court. I thought that there had been a settlement of some sort. After we sat, the judge started to loudly admonish us for disregarding his instructions not to discuss the case. At lunch one of the jurors ate with a plaintive and were overheard discussing the case by another juror who told the bailiff! We were dismissed with the judge's last shot, "None of you will ever be summoned for jury duty by this court again!" I was both disappointed and mad. I hadn't done anything wrong and I was being treated as an ill-behaved child. To make it worse, I never found out how the case was resolved.

Hoping.

I'm up for my last forever stint the next two months. Then I get to use same excuse forevermore. Hope to actually get called in this time but don't like being tethered to home plate. My new job as family recreation director requires constant travel. I get off the last week because we are headed off to Alaska on the ferry.

I'm retired law enforcement and every time I'm summoned it's a waste of time because no defense attorney will ever pick me. We used to be exempt but the law was changed awhile back. I would love to hear feedback from any other LEO's who were actually picked for a jury!
