Question for the Fuji 16-55 and or 18-55 lens users.

If longer than 16 or18-55mm zoom is needed, the 18-135 WR is also very capable and a good travel lens.

I have both, but I tend to use the smaller lens more than the larger one. It focuses faster, and the color rendition is super - especially for flesh tones.

I use the XF16-55, and don't miss the OIS at all. It is a heavier lens, but I use an XT-1 with the second battery grip on the camera and it balances nicely. I was carrying a Nikon D700 with the battery grip for a long time, but it just got too heavy for me. I find the Fujifilm setup really nice. I just came back from a two week trip to Israel, and found I used the XF16-55 exclusively for every picture I took, even though I had an additional 3 lenses with me. Believe me, you won't go wrong with whichever lens you choose. Both are excellent.

You received a lot of information, so I won't go there. However I can say the 18-55 f2.8-4 is selling from $200 to 250 in good numbers in eBay.

In fact I just listed and sold my 18-55 and sold it IMMEDIATELY for $190. The lens was in "new" condition. The ink was hardly dry on the listing. That's why I am on eBay with both my buying and selling.

And, I made money on that deal because I got it low with an X-E1 body.

At the prices the 18-55 lens is selling for and at it's excellent performance, I simply WOULD NOT step up for the 16-55.

Go used, Go refurb, but screw new!!!! I only buy to flip. There's no money in new and the profit is in the $200 to $500 area for camera's and lenses.

Smaller AF lenses always focus faster. It's a physics law regarding mass and inertia. That's why the mirrorless lenses beat the hell out of big lenses made up with huge chunks of glass when it comes to AF speed. My 18-55 f.28 was super fast, even considering the larger glass for f2.8.

If the 16-55 is bigger it will suffer in AF speed because of the increased size and weight of it's "guts". That's also why f3.5 and f3.8 lenses generally focus even faster.

How often do you really go to f2.8 on a zoom, or just switch to a faster prime instead?

I live on e-bay. I have gear on there right now. Currently there are 3 U.S. XF 18-55's the best at $347. I wish I saw yours for $190. Thanks for the help.

You have to "truly live" on eBay to get the best deals. If you look there even now, you will see a number of "sold" 18-55 lenses in the $200 plus area. I just needed a quick sale to make another quick purchase. IT happens, and that's when the good deals appear.
