About five years ago I purchased a Dell desktop computer with Windows 7 installed. When Windows 10 came out I applied for the update on two Dell desktops and one Toshiba laptop. All three upgrades went smoothly. Recently I tried to install Norton Internet Security on one of the desktops and during the installation the computer went south and I when I logged back in I could see that some system files obviously had been overwritten. I backed up all the files, contacts etc that I could and proceeded to recreate the factory conditions expecting to get back to a windows 7 environment. To my surprise when the operating system came up it came up as Windows 10. Apparently when I did the Windows 10 upgrade the protected partition was re-written as Windows 10. I didn't realize that would occur.

That's a surprise. Glad it worked out for you.
