I am looking for advise on the lens to use when shooting inside this 24" cube. using it for shooting both jewelry and food displays. Question is the type / size of lens. I use a Canon 50D and 70D. Did a search but wasn't able to find anything specific. There are lights inside the cube plus I have a variety of lights I can use. Much appreciated..in advance.

Our local newspaper food editor uses the Canon EF 50mm f2.5 macro (but typically uses natural light, not a cube). It will focus down to about 4" (from the front of the lens) and will do 1:2 max. Tack-sharp when stopped down a bit and not expensive.

EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM Refurbished. Great for macro and portraits, landscapes and several other uses. I use it shooting flowers in cubes, very versatile and maneuverable. Outstanding imagery.

$719.99, caps, case, and hood/ 1 year warranty

With a small cube like that, I'd use a 55 or 60mm macro on full frame, or a 30mm macro on m43 format.

For in the cube I use a 40mm f2.8 DX lens on a Nikon d7200. Works great but I have to work tight. I use both external speed lights and a lens ring flash based on what I'm photographing.

I have to agree with TriX, that is solid advice!

Thanks everyone for your input. I have a 50mm macro. Give it a good shot and post anything I think is worthy for members to give me some feedback. Thanks again
George
