I don't have a personal view but am interested in feedback because I have one on my wish list.

My research so far suggest the Tokina is the winner, but let's see what we get!

i am going to try out the sigma 3.5 fixed.....the guys in the camera store i go to in duluth minnesota says it's the best.....they say it's pretty much flat across with hardly no distortion.

I have the TOKINA 11-16mm 2.8 and love it. Very sharp. Don't use it all the time but for certain landscape photos its been great. Very happy I purchased it about 1 yr ago.

I'm a member of a Canon shooters forum and I can speak on the Tokina and Canon 10-22mm lens.

Both are stellar performers. Really...they are top notch.

I just did a wholeeee bunch of research on this, but for the Nikon equivalents of those lenses. I can't speak to the Canon 10-22, but they say the distortion in the sigma is minimal, but especially tricky to fix on the ends. I think the consensus is that the tokina is the best of the "third party" lenses, but it's also the most expensive and has the smallest range. I wouldn't go with the Tamron, most of the reviews I read said it was soft and just a notch below..I'm sure it's not bad though.

I also have the TOKINA 11-16mm 2.8 the lens is very sharp have it for about a year. With Nikons lens will only auto focus on body's with a internal focusing motors. Not sure if it's the same with canons.

Not having an interest in N&C lenses, I have the Sigma 10-20 and like it. Maybe at 10 it is questionable, but 12-17 it is great. You can see pictures from this lens if you click on 365Project below and look at May 4 & 5 pictures.

And do the same for the others....you'll be able to zero in on what's better and many times members post sample shots.

Another great way to see what a lens can do is to go to flickr and put in "canon 10-22mm"and you will see shots that are tagged with that...then you can see real world results and make up your mind.

I own the tokina 11-16mm and it's tack sharp. Should know you can't use the on camera flash as bottom third of the photo is in the shadow of the lens, you need a flash that you can mount on camera or point upwards.. If you not using on camera flash, killer lens.

I have the Canon 10-22 and it's tack sharp. My photo bud has the Tamron--not as sharp and a little bit soft at times.
