I am keeping mine just for memories now. No longer use it, sitting on a shelf along with a number of other cameras I still have.
I have noticed the back has become very "sticky". They appear to have used very thin layer of something over the metal. Anyone know of a solvent that will remove the "sticky"?

I have read that there is a problem with the F/N90 series where the rubberized coating rubs off after a number of years. I have an F90 and an N90S and both have the coating coming off.

I certainly wouldn't use alcohol - perhaps something like Armor All cleaner.

I've seen the issue you described. First remove the back, it's easy, and then try one of the citrus based cleaners like Goo Gone. Sometimes WD 40 works. You don't want to damage the plastic so a paint remover would be a bad choice. Whatever they used, it was definitely a mistake as it's a common problem.

Thanks, I don't care if I getto the bare metal, just don't want the sticky feel.

There is no metal to get to, only plastic. That's why you have to be careful with the type solvent you use. Paint remover will likely damage the plastic.

My error, I can see that is plastic not metal.
Thanks for posting.

Goo Gone is great for removing adhesive glue. It doesn't dissolve anything.

I don't know how to solve your problem but I remember my N90s very fondly, a great camera.

Agree! Has a great "feel" to it. That is why I am keeping mine, even tho I don't use it. Thanks for your comment.

You won't get to bare metal. The soft coating is on plastic parts. I also rubbed it all off my N90. I don't mind a smooth feel when it comes to plastic parts.

Be sure to take the batteries out of it. You may want to use it some day, and if you leave the batteries in it for a long period of time it will become a large camera shaped paper weight and no longer a functioning camera.
