Looks like you have it set to remind you to restart to update, otherwise it will be ALL automatic, no other choices.
You can make a short cut to access all of the settings on one page, (God mode),

To enter God Mode, “right click” on the desktop, go to “New” and then click on “Folder” from the list.

Rename the folder with this text.
My Own Mode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
The text before the period ( . ) sign can be changed as you prefer. After renaming the folder, you will see a new icon with the name you specified. Double-clicking that file will lead you to all the available settings.

It's easy Larry. Here is a link to select how updates are installed.

Thanks Mark. Not sure why but many people try to make Win 10 into some mysterious difficult monster. It is really very simple to use. Just have to get used to the new interface. There is a good reason to let the thing update automatically. Unlike the Mac, Windows is an open system where the user can accomodate personal idiotsyncracies and preferences, but that also makes it an easier target for malware. Some of the updates are protective.

That's what 'they' said about Vista, Win8 & 8.1 and none of the statements were really truthful--they were all bad

I have 3 systems on Windows 10 since it first came on the market. Baring some hardware problems I had on one of the systems and two obscure device drivers (that have since been updated) I have never had a problem with any of the systems or any of the updates. Maintain good malware and virus protection and possibly a repair product (I use System Mechanic) and you won't have problems.

I allow auto updates. I also run AVG Internet Security and Malware Bytes for anti virus and malware. No issues, my PC runs 24/7 and I'm on it 8+ hours a day. I love Win 10!! I installed it within 2 weeks of its August 2015 release. No issues. My opinion of the "bad raps" Win 10 gets on UHH is more about computers not being compatible and/or operators not being sufficiently knowledgeable. That is not intended to be criticism, just my own interpretation of some of the reasons for the "bad rap".

Many Mac/Apple owners claim IOS is easier and friendlier than Windows OS. I disagree. I help many people in my community (free) with computers - some Apple, mostly Windows. In order for me to become better able to help the IOS people, I would venture to the Apple Store and "play" with Macs. I found that IOS is no more intuitive than Windows. Either has a steep learning curve. However, there is an abundance of instruction/support online - all free.

Here is a link to MS support page. It contains "everything you wanted to know but were afraid to ask" for Win 10. I have it bookmarked.

Sounds like you are enjoying Win 10.
Thanks for the response.

I think Win10 is without a doubt the best, most solid OS, Microsoft has ever produced.

Win10 has a way to go before that can be validated.
I think XP was probably the BEST leap in Microsnot software from it's predecessor.
With Win7 a close second. Of course Vista SUCKED, and Win 8 was a total mistake.
Win 10 with Classic Shell installed works pretty well. But only time will tell if all the trash Microsnot has embedded in Win10 will stand the test of time.

Windows 10 free OS upgrade was a surprise to me. I remember the cost of a Windows 7 upgrade disc in late 2009 was about $100. Computers with Windows Vista were left out on the freebie to Windows 10. My backup laptop has Vista. Windows Vista will be losing all Microsoft Support in a year, just as XP in 2014. Windows 7 is still being used by 50% of computers worldwide. People refusing to upgrade. And Microsoft is none too happy about it.

Microsnot regrets the control people have over the OS on their own computers and is slowly taking that control back. I regret allowing Win10 to assimilate my computer - but it is too late to undo it - - you only have 30 days to go back. Win 7 was a great OS. Win10 works well - - but YOU can't control what it does or when it does it. You get the updates whether you want them or not.
-
IF you are on the fence and Microsnot keeps pushing Win10 on you - - I HIGHLY recommend you download Steve Gibson's Never10 from GRC research:
http://www.grc.com/never10.htm
This will REMOVE up to 6.5 GB of installation files Microsnot has likely already pushed onto your HDD, and will BLOCK Microsnot attempts to hijack your computer with Win10.

I agree. I almost mentioned XP. For 10+ years it was the standard. I think it spoiled a lot of us. As you stated, Vista & ME should never have happened. 8 with Classic Shell was tolerable.
Win10 takes a little getting used to. For those who liked 7, Classic Shell will make it more friendly. Certainly, there is more work to be one on it. I find Edge almost useless in its present state.
MS's issue is they want a universal single SW package that works on everything, phone PC's and tablets. Maybe some folks want a touch screen monitor. I would find it hard to sit at a desk and do that all day.
Even Bill Gates said when 8 came out that he was still using 7 because he had no touch panel monitors.

I've been on 10 now for about 9 months. Once you get all of the background crap turned off it appears well behaved. I have not been able to crash it to the point that a simple restart didn't resolve the issue.

XP was good because it was only a mask over DOS. Not much to break. Win 10 is a full operating system from the ground up. Someone mentioned Edge, I'm using it all the time. It took a little getting use to but it is very fast and has no junk under the hood. It's a solid HTML 5 browser.

I have nothing against Windows 10. I was only suggesting those that don't want it. 50% of the entire world. You can keep Windows 7 if you prefer. However, there have been complaints of Windows 10 being automatically upgraded against one's wishes. The info you provided will benefit them. I'm upset because I can't take advantage of the Windows 10 freebie upgrade on my backup laptop with Vista OS. Not eligible for free Windows 10 upgrade. Unfortunately.

You could upgrade Vista to win7 for next to nothing, then it would be eligible for the 10 upgrade.
