I recently bought a Nikon Coolpix P610, and am having a lot of fun playing with it. I'm amazed and impressed at how well it performs for close ups and for reaching long distances. Here's a close up; F5, 1/60, ISO 110, lens at 20.6mm.

Thank you, Angela! I sure enjoy taking pictures with it. I do believe that it's similar to the SX50. I've certainly read many good things about it.

That shot is so sharp and colorful..looks like you have a new toy to enjoy cathyann!
No, I didn't! The lens motor was acting up - when I'd zoom in to shoot the moon, lose track of it and snap back to find it again and then zoom back, it stopped working. I had to change mode for it to retract!
So, I returned it and got a refund. Then I couldn't find another one at the moment, had a hissy fit, and ended up buying a refurbished D7100.
Don't ask me about the logic of getting another DSLR to replace the P610 - there isn't any! I've wanted the D7100 for awhile now, and lo and behold, there was my excuse.
(Now, I have to learn how to use it... . lol! Nothing yet worth posting.)
