What it's saying is that Wi-Fi does not stand for anything. It's just a copyrighted name. Like "raw," which some people capitalize, thinking R and A and W stand for something, like NEF (Nikon's version of raw.)
A play on words with Hi-Fi.

Words don't have to have any intrinsic meaning, and don't necessarily have to make sense. As long as they convey the accurte meaning and are understood. that's all that is necessary. All words are made up words. Why is a tree called a tree as opposed tokoti. The ancient word Camera Obscura. or hidden room. Has been shortened and now means - a funny looking thing that mostly makes blurry images. Or maybe it means, deleted pictures.
I don't know about wi fi, only know about Semper Fi.
So much for Wi-Fi, what about TWAIN. Technology Without Any Name. Not sure how the "I" got in there, oh well time for another cup.
Isn't it an abreviation of Wireless fidelity?
