Happy Birthday U.S. Army!
The U.S. Army was founded on 14 June 1775, when the Continental Congress authorized enlistment of riflemen to serve the United Colonies for one year. The 14 June date is when Congress adopted "the American continental army" after reaching a consensus position in The Committee of the Whole.
I am a veteran, and I am going to blow out the candles tonight. I was proud to serve, as were my DAD, Uncles and now my Son.
A cousin of mine is retired US Army, from Ft. Bliss Texas. The Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard, do not get the birthday recognition from the media as the US Marines do. I know that it comes just before Veterans Day in November, and is the most ceremonial of all. All the other branches birthdays ???? Thanks for your family service. Happy Birthday Army. I will look up all military branches birthdays and mark my calendar.
The Founders wouldn't recognize what we call an Army today. Happy Birthday.
