I went on a little photo shoot on Sunday. The last one is a mistake. I didn't mean to send it. I try to send more.
I went on a little photo shoot on Sun. Here are a couple of pic I thought were interesting. I took a ton of the bird but this one I thought was the best....

The subject - the flowers - in the first image appears to be a bit underexposed and brighter background around the flowers pulls my eye away from what you are trying to show.
It's tough to make the butt end of a bird interesting. The tree is the major compositional element in the photo and the bird appears to have just blundered into the scene.
The flower shot is the best, but needs some post processing help to brighten up the blooms and tone down the bright background. I'd also crop it a bit to get rid of that blurry bit in the upper left corner.
What about the images made them interesting to you, if I might ask?

Your flower, with the vignette and brighter background gave the blossoms a cool and secluded air that was rather attractive.
And the bird was a good catch to fill the empty by the tree. Not so bad a thing at all. If the rest of the swing rope had had a kid, or even a tire on it, it would have been a little better...
Looks, and from your comments it sounds, like you are wishing to find those small steps that make photos a little better. That's good. The world is so full of such steps you will never run out of space to travel. Just enjoy looking for them and then doing what you can to show others the finds, experience, ideas, impressions...
