That sounds like a good set up. Can you show me some examples of your results?
I'll have some with that setup from tomorrow's wedding shoot.

Rehearsal this evening ............. took some practice snaps
Manual, HSS, ETTL
Canon 6D, Canon 24-105L at 70mm
1/2000, F/8, ISO-160, +2 FEC, auto zoom on the flash EX600RT
Think I'll add a few off-camera flash units for the processional, that will give me a bit more fire power in that harsh light and faster recycle

Yeah, you were not joking. That is some harsh sun. Just looking at the shadows from the benches and hitting the sides of their faces. It does look good! I assume you worked things out with the priest in using flash.
Oh, and best of luck today!

Very nicely done!! You handled that harsh sun beautifully! Were your indoor shots with flash as well?
(By the way, if you were using flash, it's a compliment that I even have to ask, as the goal of shooting with flash is to make it appear as if no flash was used.)

Inside was no flash, all outside snaps were with flash except the establishing shot of the church and people sitting.
The processional shots were done with 2 flash, one on-camera, one off. The one off was shot in line with on-camera accept I place at 3 feet looking slightly upward, wanted to make sure I filled the raccoon areas.
The picture of them kissing on the back courtyard railing was with 2 off-camera flash units, on-camera was simply being used to control the off-camera. You could see the flash units in the picture, I cloned them out of the frame. Used high speed sync as I was at 1/4000, 4X ND plus a Cir polarizer, remember that snap was done at 3:30pm, still very harsh sunlight as the it isn't dark until 9pm this time of year. This also gave me a blue sky instead of blowing out the rear end.
I believe the off-camera was set to 24mm, in hindsight I would of zoomed them at 105mm to focus more one their faces, you can see a shadow on the brides are from the flash that was camera left. Just not enough time to really compose perfectly, the never give us enough time but they expect perfection ;)

Found a tad of shade under a small tree and a acceptable backdrop while I was with the guys before the ceremony.
Groom and father of the bride. Gift? Kentucky Moonshine
Super Scoop ETTL
Everything looks good BC. Looks like your planning practice and execution paid off! Love the high speed sync kissing shot.
Weird things that I notice ... Those black umbrellas, are they common? Seems like they would generate a lot of heat.
Beautiful setting and I hope you provide a link to your video. Should be outstanding. Have you thought about adding a drone video to your arsenal? I think flying over an outdoor wedding in one of those missions would be special. Well, if flash is hard to get permission for I suppose a drone would be out of the question.

The people inside didn't need the umbrellas ............. you know, the expensive seats
Actually We don't need umbrellas very often in California but I'm sure the people loved having the use of them for the ceremony, it was 94 degrees ...........
