Hi, I am new to the group and would like some info from anyone familiar with shooting in Antelope Canyon. I carry a Nikon 18-140 and the Nikon 35 1.8. Can I get by with these lenses on a scheduled trip to Antelope in a few months. Thanks, Jim G.

They'd probably suffice if you don't need a long lens for anything. The canyon is pretty tight. Maybe you should consider a teleconverter if you run into the need for a little more reach. The 35 should be ideal for most shots.

By the way, welcome aboard...

I heard from several sources that it is very dusty in the canyon, kicked up from the groups of people getting herded through there.
So I think it would probably not be wise to change lenses while in the canyon.

Thanks, I was advised of that ad well, so I wanted to know what- one lens was best the 35 mm or the 18-140. So it seems that the 35 will have to do for me. I am grateful for any comments and advice.

The 35 1.8 is a great lens--use it.
A teleconverter is not compatible with either the 35mm or the 18-140.
Have you considered the 18-200 zoom?

Whichever lens you use, keep it covered while in the canyon; there is frequently a light "rain" of sand, especially if there is wind above the canyon. I ruined a Nikon 18-200 that way several years ago. It still "crunches" when it is zoomed.

You should be just fine with both Lenses.
You will be in some wide open sunlit areas and some very tight dim canyons.
It is some spectacular countryside have fun and please post the results.
Which Nikon Camera are you using???

I would stick to the 35mm. Here's an off the wall reason for not using the zoom. Operating the zoom lens creates a change in air pressure within the lens. Without some way of dealing with that pressure change, the lens would be difficult to zoom in or out. So, changing the focal length of the lens could suck some of the dust particles in the air into the inside of the lens barrel.
