Like the earlier ASA, I have always pronounced each letter, so I say I - S - O. I can recall hearing only two people saying "EYE-so," and that was in online videos. The first time I heard it pronounced as a word was just a few months ago. Reading an article just now, I came across this sentence.
"This feature is pronounced “EYE-so”—unless you want to wind-up nerdy-types who get a bit manic over such mispronunciations, in which case treat it as an acronym; call it “I.S.O.”, then enjoy their fit of apoplexy."
I see two errors here. EYE-so is not the "correct," more common pronunciation, and "I.S.O" is not an acronym. "EYE-so" is an acronym - a word made from initials. I don't consider myself a nerdy type who gets wound up over this, fortunately.
So, who says ISO and who says EYE-so? Of course, neither one is right or wrong - just personal preference.

I say ISO. My last photo teacher said “EYE-so”.
It's three individual letters.
My car's an SHO, I call it a "show".
I.S.O. is not a word so should not be pronounced as a word, just as U.S.A. is not pronounced:"yousaw."
I like to use is-zo....maybe it's because of my European roots !
I would also like Giga to be pronounced Jiga so it doesn't sound like the root of the word came from Giggle instead of Gigantic !
One last one while we are at it is Ideology which in the States is pronounced Idi-ology and thus linking it to Idiot as a root !

Fortunately, this has not crept into use in the UK as yet ! I have always used I.S.O. and until you mentioned it I had not heard of it !
In 1992, my boss sent me to a training class for ISO9000 quality standards. The trainers all pronounced it as Eye-Ess-Oh-9000. But as the standards were rolled out across the company, the pronounciation became EYE-so-9000. Probably not "correct", but I got over it. I now say EYE-so for film speed.
I've used both.
Some of the best pro educators on the planet say eye-so.
Use what works for you and get over the rest!!
As for Euro versions, they work in Europe, but lose it here!! The good'ole days, they ain't a coming back!!! :-)

This quote come from the ISO website
"It's all in the name
Because 'International Organization for Standardization' would have different acronyms in different languages (IOS in English, OIN in French for Organisation internationale de normalisation), our founders decided to give it the short form ISO. ISO is derived from the Greek isos, meaning equal. Whatever the country, whatever the language, we are always ISO."
So it's a word!

Actually, ISO is an acronym (see screenshot from the ISO webpage below).
Having said that, there is no grammatical or usage rule that specifies how acronyms should be pronounced, and there are acronyms in common usage everywhere pronounced either by letters or the word. Typically, acronyms that have an awkward or meaningless pronunciation as a word are referenced by their letters (e.g., NCLB for the "No Child Left Behind" Act), as opposed to a word pronunciation such as "mad" for MADD (Mother's Against Drunk Driving).
I-S-O or Eye-so works either way, hence the variation.
I have and will continue to pronounce it ICEOH...

Having worked in the banking industry at the largest banking corporation in the United States for 30 years, and which for many years adhered to ISO 9000 standards, I can say that absolutely no one at my bank, or in the other banks of my many industry colleagues, said I-S-O 9000. It was always EYE-SO 9000.

Having worked for (still do) one of the largest Trust Banking and investment support corporations in and outside the USA for 37 years, I can confirm mwsilvers posting. No one I know of has ever said I.S.O., it's always ICEOH.
