Thanks, Angela. My area still has a lot of older barns around, some refurbished, like this one, and some in various stages of disrepair. I like to photograph all of them.

Nice shot jaymatt. Barns are one of my favorite subjects as well. Nicely done.

Thanks, Michael. I don't always succeed, but I try to get them right.

Excellent shot John.

Thanks, Jim. I managed to catch this one on a good day, rather than the gray yuk that's been around for a few months.

Very cool! Love the brick silo.

Thanks for the compliment. As a side note, I had an Arabian once, but we focused on Appaloosa breeding, mostly. Now we just have a few for the grandkids. My illness a few years ago pretty much stopped our breeding program in its tracks.

Very nice shot. The barn looks solid but well used and blends nicely with the color of the sky and surrounding farmland.

Thanks, Carol. I believe it was re-done by the Amish a few years ago--they do nice barn preservation work.

I like this a lot, John. Eye-catching colors, interesting textures and lines. Very nice.

Is there way to stand further to the right to catch the peak of the roof line that's hiding behind the silo?

Thanks for the compliment, Linda. That's pretty much the shot one gets as a result of the no trespassing signs and the big, barking dog. There's never been anyone to ask permission to roam around from when I've been by there, so these are road shots (I'm attaching another view for you). Perhaps if someone is home there sometime, I'll ask for permission to "intrude."

Nice picture, John. Interesting silo.

Thanks, John. I believe the silo originally had a domed top, but since this kind of silo isn't used around here anymore, no one bothers to restore them. I wish they would, but I understand why they don't. The cost is prohibitive.

Thanks! Interesting to see the setting.

90% of my photo ops are behind barbed wire fencing with no trespassing signs and big, barking dogs (and no, I don't challenge any of it!)

Me, either. I have better things to do with my life than challenge guard dogs.

From my neighborhood . . . .

I love the almost natural composition of the barn. You captured it well, and the careful framing finishes it off. Super job John.
Promise us that you will go back and shoot the front, to nice a barn for just one shot.

I'll think about that. The only problem is that the front faces north and is, therefore, just about always shaded.

Those of us that love barns will settle for what ever you get, and thank you for it. It's the farmer in me!

Despite the difficulties, you did a beautiful job. Great composition, and I think the shadows add a nice contrast. I really like it!
