So I got out (on a lousy day) to take my first shots with the Nikon D500. First impression was how fast it shot. I thought 6.5 FPS was fast on my D750. This is faster than a machine gun. Also, with a 200 shot buffer, it just keeps going. Second, is how fast the Autofocus worked. Very quick and accurate. I saw an Osprey out back and followed it around to test the speed of the D500. (This bird was quick). Very impressive. I'm sure I'll get better as time goes on but wanted to share first photos. The camera feels great in your hands. Love the new features (especially the touch screen) and have no problem with the fact there is no built in flash. Only issue I had was with uploading. I thought I had the latest version of LR. Unless you have the latest version, the D500 will not transfer images. Seems corrected now. Looking forward to continue to work with it. Any other tips or advice are more than welcome!! Thanks to all who helped.
Nice images. Thanks for the post.
Jack
I think most who get their hands on one has the same impression on the focusing ability.
Not everybody got such a nice first subject.
Well done!

Thanks Bill, Yeah, I was lucky to walk out my door and see an Osprey. He was up high and I thought this was a good chance to check the autofocus. Just as I started to shoot he swooped down towards the pond. The autofocus followed perfectly. I need more practice but glad I got this as my first shots. Many really nice features.

Good shots, Rob! I like the last one!
I am still lusting for the D500. What auto focus mode did you use for this nice series?
